Other alert sources

Trigger bots from any charting platform or script that can send a webhook.

TradingView isn't the only way to trigger a bot. Any charting platform or tool that can send a webhook when an alert fires can drive Promethean, for example Openmarket.xyz. It uses the same webhook URL and the same alert messages as TradingView.

What the platform needs to do

A platform works with Promethean if its alerts can:

  • Send a webhook, meaning an HTTP POST request to a URL you enter, and
  • Let you set the message body to exact text you paste.

Email, push and in-app notifications on their own aren't enough, and neither is a webhook whose body the platform fills in itself with its own format. Promethean only reads the alert message, so the platform has to send exactly what you pasted.

Set up the alert

The webhook URL is the same for every bot:

https://prometheanbots.com/webhook/alerts
  1. Open your bot's page (Bots, then View) and find Webhook / Alert Setup. Copy the Webhook URL and the alert messages.
  2. In your platform, create an alert on your indicator or strategy condition.
  3. Turn on the alert's webhook option and paste the Webhook URL.
  4. Paste the bot's alert message into the webhook's message or body field: the BUY message on your entry alert and the SELL message on your exit alert. Replace anything already in the field.
  5. Save the alert.

The alert message format is the same everywhere. See The alert message for the actions you can send, including shorts on futures bots.

Test with a dry-run bot first. Fire the alert once and check that it shows up on the Logs page before you trade live.

Placeholders and variables

TradingView fills in placeholders such as {{strategy.order.action}} before it sends an alert. Other platforms have their own placeholders, or none. To be safe, paste a message with the action written out (BUY, SELL, ENTER-SHORT and so on) and use one alert per action.

If your platform can build a JSON body, the JSON format works too. Promethean reads the body itself, so the request's content type doesn't matter.

Advanced: send from your own script

If you run your own charting tool or script, send the alert message as the body of a POST request. With curl:

curl -X POST https://prometheanbots.com/webhook/alerts \
  -H "Content-Type: text/plain" \
  -d "BUY_BingX_BTCUSDT_BTC-Trend_3f9c2a71d0e84b6c5a1f2e7d"

Promethean answers with JSON. A delivered signal returns 200 with "status": "accepted". A bad token or a malformed message returns an error code with a reason, for example Invalid or inactive bot token. Point this at a dry-run bot until you're sure your script sends what you expect.

Older webhook URLs

Alerts set up with an older URL keep working, from any platform, so there's no need to change them:

  • https://prometheanlabs.onrender.com/webhook/alerts or …/webhook/tradingview, Promethean's previous address
  • https://prometheanbots.com/webhook/tradingview, the original path name

They all reach the same webhook.

Limits

The same limits apply whatever sends the alert:

  • Duplicates: the same signal for the same bot twice within a 30-second window is ignored the second time and logged as DUPLICATE.
  • Rate limit: at most 60 signals per minute across all your bots. Extra signals are dropped and logged as RATE_LIMITED.

If an alert fires but nothing appears in Logs, work through If nothing shows up in Logs. The checks are the same for every platform.
